Kenya welcomes you to arguably the most iconic destination in Kenya and Africa at large, the Masai Mara National Reserve. Masai Mara presents you with an amazing opportunity to experience Kenya’s grandeur on a large scale.
In Masai Mara, you will encounter stunning rolling landscapes, diverse ecosystems, a large population of wildlife species and a magical cultural heritage. Masai Mara is home to the Big Five animals, and holds the highest population of mammals and other wildlife in Kenya. The Mara is also the host conservation area for over 550 recorded bird species. With acceptable temperatures and dry weather for the better part of the year, Mara presents one of the most mesmerizing animal shows in the world, the Wildebeest Migration. The largest annual migration of animals in the world occurs from July through October.
The Wildebeests traverse onto the Mara plains after a successful crossing of the crocodile and hippo-infested Mara River and not falling prey to the Big Cats that prowl the Mara River shores during the migration. As pacesetters, the Zebras and antelopes across from the Serengeti in Tanzania then follow the Wildebeests into the grassy plains of Mara. A Balloon safari takes you to the Mara clear-blue skies where you can marvel at the spotted land and view wildlife from above. A visit to the Masai Villages surrounding the Mara conservation area will offer an eye-opening experience into the culture of the Masai people, the major contributors of the conservation of Mara in its entirety.
At your Nairobi Hotel or on arrival at JKIA airport, an Antonio Safaris representative will meet you and warmly welcome you to Kenya.
You will then board your awaiting 4x4 Land Cruiser and begin your wonderful journey to the iconic Masai Mara. En route, you will make a brief stopover at the Rift Valley Viewpoint to marvel at the expansive beauty of the valley and take a bathroom break. You will then proceed with your adventure.
You will arrive in Mara in time for check in and lunch. After relaxing at the accommodation, you will head out for an afternoon game drive to be acquainted with the park. You will go in search of the big five and other wildlife.
Later, you will return to the lodge/camp for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.
Take to the skies in the early morning and enjoy an aerial view of the spotted Mara plains below. Catch a glimpse of wildlife roaming freely in the vast savannah grasslands and the sun as it lays its rays on the grass turning everything golden. (An optional activity at an extra cost)
Settle down to breakfast after an exhilarating adventure. After breakfast, carry packed lunch with you as you embark on a full day game drive in the Masai Mara reserve. Your guide will help to identify wildlife in the park including the big five and ensure you enjoy cruising though the beauty of the gently rolling hills of the Mara.
At around lunchtime, you will enjoy a picnic along the banks overlooking the Mara River and will witness the Nile Crocodiles and the Hippos that inhabit the river. A further game drive will present an opportunity to encounter more wildlife as well as bird species for bird lovers.
Later in the evening, return to the lodge/camp to freshen up, enjoy a hearty dinner and spend the night.
Wake up to a leisurely breakfast on your last day. Say goodbye to the fascination that is Masai Mara and depart on your way back to Nairobi.
You have the option of visiting the Masai Village to interact with the local Masai people, learn their cultures and even acquire some antique artefacts as souvenirs at an extra cost.
Here is where we say goodbye. Till the next time!
