Giraffe Centre
Founded under the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W), the Giraffe Centre is a sanctuary created for the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. The Rothschild Giraffe, a subspecies of the Northern Giraffe species, is uniquely distinguished by large, rectangular, brown patches, which do not extend to their lower legs.
As an environmental conservation centre, Giraffe Centre educates on the country’s wildlife and environment and offers both locals and international visitors close contact with the Rothschild Giraffe.
Karen Blixen Museum
The Karen Blixen Museum is located at the foothills of the Ngong Hills and it began as a home to the Danish author Karen and her husband in the early 1900s. Basing her book ‘Out of Africa’, later adapted into a film of the same name, on her experience, Karen recounted owning a farm on the foot of the Ngong Hills.
Located in the suburbs of Nairobi, the museum presents the person of Karen Blixen and an opportunity to witness the lush green gardens and revel in the past in the present, enjoying the exhibits of well-maintained furniture and tools used. Enjoy a guided tour of the museum, walk the nature trails, birdwatch and buy souvenirs from the museum shops.
